Abstract

Study Design: A review article.
Objectives: To investigate the initial evaluation and treatment of thoracolumbar injuries, imaging findings, injury mechanisms, classification, and treatment.
Summary of Literature Review: Since most vertebral injuries occur in the thoracolumbar spine and are caused by multiple traumas, it is necessary to maintain the patient's life, prevent further neural injury, restore the spinal alignment, and maintain stability.
Materials and Methods: Review of the relevant articles.
Results: The thoracolumbar junction is a region where fractures are likely to occur during trauma. In the management of patients with thoracolumbar injuries, after the patient's whole-body evaluation is completed, the diagnosis is confirmed through imaging tests, the mechanism of injury is identified, and the injury is classified to determine the treatment direction.
Conclusions: In thoracolumbar fractures and dislocations, if the injury mechanism and degree are accurately evaluated and appropriate treatment is provided, the patient's disability can be minimized and recovery can be maximized.
